Wednesday 5 August 2009

These are the days.

On Monday, we woke up and met for lunch at Demspey. Tried the korean BBQ for the second time but it simply can't hold a candle to ASSA. It was thrice the price as well. Drove home and took a long leisurely afternoon nap. Woke up around 6 and hit Chili's for the second time in a week. As usual we ate up a storm- burgers, fajitas, garlic prawns, onion strings, chili soup and buffalo wings! Down to Orchard to do a bit of shopping and to put together a care package for the best friend. Rushed down to the airport to send Andrew off for his exchange, we just barely made it in time. And then all of us drove down to Simpang to have Spize for supper. The boy & I dropped Marc home and then we came home. Ended up literally rolling on the floor with laughter and gasping for breath whilst we watched some hilarious videos. Brought the telescope out onto the balcony and we watched the moon up close- the texture and the contours, beautiful. Pity there were no stars out. An episode of top gear (inducing yet more laughter) and then it was back to bed. A day spent just sleeping, eating and laughing. Perfection.

Yesterday, we had lunch at Sakuraya- I haven't been there since Christmas 07 and boy, I sure missed the food. We were so hungry we ordered more than we could handle: Ohtoro, Sake Belly, Aji, Akagai, Tako, Natto, Ume Shisho, Una Don, Karage and yet more! Insanity but we did quite well, only two slices left behind. Bought some snacks and then drove down to Vivo for some shopping and errand running and then rushed down to Ang Mo Kio for dinner with D's family. Uncle Leong crab noodles- my favourite! And we bough durians too! Headed to his house to do some packing and stuff before heading back home. Grandma cooked us soup so we sat on the porch talking to her & drinking the tonic. Headed out again to the 24hr Cold Storage at HV to do groceries. We trial baked chocolate fondant for the brunch surprise we have planned for Mum.

This morning we woke up at 8 to make pancake stackers & chocolate cake. Served mummy breakfast in bed. Took our time to get showered and changed before we drove down to SGH to pick up my maid from the hospital. Our car broke down on the AYE but it was all quite funny. Within half an hour, we were on the go again. Lunch at Fish&Co was sorely disappointing. But our massage & facial at the spa was really good (I fell asleep) and we renewed both packages even though we still had 11+ credits left. So now we have 40+ credits again. Left the spa around 6+ and did a bit of shopping before driving to Newton which was a disappointing meal as well :( Home and gave mummy the present we bought her for fun :) It was a day of Mummy pampering, from surprises to excitement then relaxation and indulgence :)

Now I'm going through the usual mad rush to pack our luggage (I don't know why I always wait till the very last minute) and then we have to be at the airport by 4 am, so I'm going to sign off now and I'll be back next week with pictures (but I'll still be on twitter as usual)! Have a good National Day Weekend everyone :)
