If It's Not Raining In Dublin, It's Going To.

So our first day in Dublin was spent shopping & at Top Gear. On the second day, we took a day tour of out dublin city and even though the weather was so fickle- sunny one minute and grey&gloomy the next (it's actually visible in the pictures!), I was taken aback by the stunning beauty of Wicklow County!

St Patties Day, everyday!

Loch Tay, also known as the Guinness Lake because the entire estate was bought as a wedding present for a lady who married into the guinness family. On a perfect day, the lake also looks the perfect pitch of stout black, complete with a layer of "froth" at the top of the bank.

It was so windy that our bodies would be pushed forward by the wind! Crazy difficult to just stand still and it was pretty scary too cos we were so high up on a slippery cliff!

The tour guide told us that Tiger Woods once rented this gigantic estate at a price of more that US $500,000 for one weekend!

The road from Dublin Bay to Dun Laoghaire, passing through Dalkey is home to the likes of Bono, U2, Van Morrison, etc..

The P.S. I Love You bridge... you know the part where Hilary Swank was wandering about in the Wicklow National Park and reading the letter?

That's Hilary Swank (screenshot of P.S. I Love You) and then thats Us at the same spot :)

Purple Glens with Silvery Streams

The garden of Ireland.

"I just want to be there when the morning light explodes on your face, it radiates, I can't escape. I love you 'till the end."

Stopped for lunch at Lynham's of Laragh, where we tried the "recommended" Guinness Beef Stew, which to be honest, was really rather rubbish! Tasteless and bland... and so expensive for pub food, tasteless pub food at that ):

Beheaded Santa!

After lunch, we visited a monastic city built in the 6th Century.

Did you know that yew trees are believed to ward off evil spirits?

Glendalough, valley of two lakes.

The rain was pouring down and our fingers were all numb, we were freezing and drenched all over and our boots/shoes were completely soaked, so we decided to turn around and head back ):

After a good wash up & warming up back in our hotel room, we walked out to the city centre for a little bit of shopping before dinner (slightly better pub food & irish cider!)

And then we went to this cute little place for shisha.

Where he absolutely kicked my ass at scrabble ):

After which we bought kebabs back to the hotel for supper!

Before leaving our room the next day!

Lunch at a Spanish restaurant, the first(and only) good meal of the trip!

Visited the Dublin Palace

Notice how the emblem is much like the Guinness Harp? Except in the other direction?

And then we went to the Guinness Storehouse

Tasting the roasted barley

The entire building is huge, five stories if I remember correctly, filled with information on the process and samples and multi-decade old advertising campaigns etc etc

Up at Gravity, apparently one of the top 10 rooftop bars in the world.

Message wall!

Highlight? The store!

I actually think it's a pretty brilliant marketing strategy employed by Guinness! Currently, Guinness Storehouse is the #1 tourist attraction in Dublin.. by making it such a cute concept with the history, sampling, gravity bar and giftstore.. even non beer/stout drinkers are visiting the place!

We bought a whole bunch of souvenirs (way too many: tshirts, coasters, playing cards, chocolates, lighters etc and ended up spending more than 300 euroes! gah fml) and then left :) Look at all the smoke coming out of the brewery!!

I loved how our hotel was walking distance to Temple Bar and the City Centre! This is our kitchen, dining room and bathroom...

Our bedroom and the view of our bedroom from our living room! I like how they divided our suite into three sections!

And our living room and the view of our living room from our bedroom!

If you're looking for a hotel to stay in, we stayed at The Morgan and it was pretty nice, spacious and clean, and the concierge was amazingly helpful as well (:
